Policies & Accountability

AUREA intends to pair its standards with clear accountability. The procedures below are proposed and under development — AUREA does not yet enforce them, because it is not yet a constituted organization.

Scope of Practice (proposed)

AUREA-aligned postpartum and newborn-care professionals would support families during the early postpartum period. A proposed scope includes:

• Newborn care: feeding support, soothing, safe-sleep practices, and observation
• Parent education and practical guidance for the early weeks
• Referral to medical or mental-health professionals when needed

A proposed scope would exclude duties outside the professional's training — for example, medical diagnosis or treatment. This is a draft for public review.

Complaint & Grievance Procedure (proposed)

AUREA intends to provide a public way for families, employers, and professionals to raise concerns. A proposed process:

• Submit a written concern through a published channel
• Acknowledge receipt and review against the Code of Ethics and scope
• Reach a documented decision, with rationale, where possible
• Apply any consequence through the suspension or revocation process

Appeal Process (proposed)

AUREA intends that any affected party could appeal a decision through an independent review step, with the opportunity to provide additional information before a final determination.

Suspension & Revocation (proposed)

If a record or future credential is suspended or revoked, the proposed registry would reflect that status publicly. This is why the demonstration verification shows Suspended and Revoked states — to model how accountability would be visible to families.

Recertification (proposed)

A future AUREA credential, if adopted, would include a renewal cycle with continuing-education requirements and periodic reassessment, so the credential reflects current competence.
