AUREA pairs its standards with clear accountability procedures for complaints, appeals, review, suspension, revocation, and registry status.

Scope of Practice

AUREA-aligned postpartum and newborn-care professionals support families during the early postpartum period. The scope includes:

• Newborn care: feeding support, soothing, safe-sleep practices, and observation
• Parent education and practical guidance for the early weeks
• Referral to medical or mental-health professionals when needed

The scope excludes duties outside the professional's training — for example, medical diagnosis or treatment. This is a standards framework.

Complaint & Grievance Procedure

AUREA provides a public way for families, employers, and professionals to raise concerns. The process includes:

• Submit a written concern through a published channel
• Acknowledge receipt and review against the Code of Ethics and scope
• Reach a documented decision, with rationale, where possible
• Apply any consequence through the suspension or revocation process

Appeal Process

An affected party can appeal a decision through an independent review step, with the opportunity to provide additional information before a final determination.

Suspension & Revocation

If a record or credential is suspended or revoked, the registry reflects that status publicly. Registry verification shows Suspended and Revoked states so accountability is visible to families.

Recertification

AUREA certification records use a three-year renewal cycle with continuing-education requirements, annual registry attestation, and periodic review, so the credential reflects current competence.
